Farm to Table Dining Event: November 13, 2023

Farm to Table Dining Event: November 13, 2023

At MIXX165, we're passionate about bringing the best of locally sourced ingredients to your plate. On November 13, 2023, at 6 pm, we're excited to present a Farm to Table dining event that celebrates the bountiful harvest of our community and showcases the incredible flavors of the region. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with four delectable courses that are a testament to the dedication and hard work of local farmers and producers.

Each Ticket comes with one glass of White or Red Wine from our friends at Dragonfly Vineyards in Urbana, Ohio. That glass can be redeemed at any point in the dinner service.

Course One: Smoked Salmon Bruschetta: Our journey through local flavors begins with a mouthwatering Smoked Salmon Bruschetta. Freshwater Farms provides us with the finest smoked salmon, which we pair with chopped tomatoes, capers, horseradish, garlic, olive oil, and a zesty lemon juice, all elegantly placed on toasted bread with a delightful balsamic drizzle.

Course Two: Creamy Pumpkin and Chicken Soup: Next, we bring you a heartwarming Creamy Pumpkin and Chicken Soup. This dish highlights the local pumpkins from Champaign Berry Farm and chicken provided by Jush and Kelly Burns. The pumpkin and cream base is enriched by the flavor of our region's poultry. Crispy sage adds a perfect finishing touch to this comforting creation. It's a taste of autumn and the undeniable bond between our community and the land.

Course Three: Beef Braciole: For the main course, we present a dish close to our hearts – Beef Braciole. This Italian wedding dish is transformed into a local masterpiece with tenderized Flank Steak from Woodruff Farms, stuffed with garlic, Parmesan, and breadcrumbs. It's served with a robust beefy tomato sauce and a side of creamy smashed potatoes from Michael’s Farms. This course is a nod to the traditional recipes that bring families and communities together, showcasing the quality of our local beef and potatoes.

Course Four: Candy Apple Sampler: Our Farm to Table experience culminates with a Candy Apple Sampler with Gourmet, Handcrafted Ice Cream from Ayars Farm. We've taken locally sourced apples and split them into three delightful flavors. Enjoy the spiced candied apple, which embodies the essence of the season. Each bite is a reminder of the simple yet delightful treats that rural communities offer.

But this event is about more than just savoring exceptional cuisine. It's about recognizing the importance of a sustainable agricultural industry in rural communities. MIXX165 has been serving Mechanicsburg, Urbana and Champaign County since 2018 and we wanted to do something special to highlight the many amazing food producers in the region. By supporting local farmers, we help them thrive and sustain their way of life. We foster the growth of a robust and resilient local economy, creating opportunities for future generations.

Our Farm to Table dining event on November 13th is a celebration of the unique connection between the land and our plates. Join us in honoring the dedication of our local producers, the richness of our region, and the delicious results of a sustainable agricultural industry that nourishes both our bodies and our communities. Book your seat and prepare to be part of a truly unforgettable evening at MIXX165.

MIXX165 REOPENING WITH SAFETY IN MIND!

“MIXX 165 REOPENING WITH SAFETY IN MIND!”

The last few months have been challenging for people all over the globe; the COVID-19 outbreak has forced politicians and employers to make very difficult decisions regarding restaurant operations. Many eateries were able to navigate the storm and maintain operations in an altered capacity, but others were much less fortunate and were forced to close their doors. We are so blessed, our AMAZING customers took incredible care of us and we were able to maintain most of our crew throughout this ordeal. Our team wants to give a huge “THANK YOU” for your continued support!!!

We’re excited to announce that our lobby and patio will be reopening Thursday, May 21st at 11am!!!

As many of you know, Governor Mike DeWine is beginning to reopen the state of Ohio. With guidance from industry professionals and the Ohio Restaurant Association, state leaders have agreed upon guidelines that they believe will both allow restaurants and bars to reopen and keep the public safe. Restaurants were already heavily regulated before COVID, so we’re experienced in working with local health authorities and following detailed safety protocols. We are very confident that Ohio restaurants will rise to the occasion and make smart decisions to keep their customers and employees safe!

We here at MIXX165 have always prided ourselves on cleanliness and safety, we feel well equipped to deal with these new challenges; we have implemented many new procedures that are compliant with state and local regulations. We have adjusted the floor plan of our our interior dining space to allow for proper social distancing between tables, for tables that are not six feet apart we have installed plastic barriers as regulations require, these barriers will be cleaned on a regular basis (please don’t touch barriers). Each table and all seats will be thoroughly cleaned after each use along with all laminated menu sheets. As current mandates require, our front of house service staff will be in proper face coverings. For our customers, face coverings are optional. Mandates also require guests to remain with their party, please for our sake, respect these rules; we don’t wish to have any issues with our local health authorities.

IMG_2553.jpeg

We are going to maintain our first come first serve policy and will not take reservations, in the scenario of a wait, you will be asked to return to your car until your table is ready; we will text you when your table is available. We understand there are many people who are still not comfortable returning to restaurants and that is 100% okay, for these folks we are continuing our phone-in, curbside pick up option. There will be signs posted at two parking spaces in our lot for curbside pick up. Please be patient with us as we are reopening, these systems are relatively new to us and we will be learning and adjusting as we go!!!

We understand that there is an ongoing debate over face coverings and individuals have strong opinions both ways and that is okay, we’re all entitled to our beliefs. We ask that all guests be respectful of one another, everyone is stressed and causing a public scene over face coverings or social distancing beliefs is unacceptable; this sort of behavior will not be tolerated. We’re all going through this together and we ask that everyone be kind and help spread the love. We are so incredibly excited to see you, we’ve missed you dearly and can’t wait to get back to what we love doing!!!

Leah Crose and Alli Sarven at MIXX165

On Saturday, February 1st, Springfield Native turned Nashville singer-songwriter Leah Crose will be returning to the area to play a free show at MIXX165 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio with friend and fellow country musician Alli Sarven. The show will begin at 7pm.

Leah and Alli are both from Springfield, Ohio and are graduates of Kenton Ridge High School. Music is more than a hobby for these two vocalists, music is both a passion and creative outlet. Through songwriting, one can express true feelings and tell stories in a creative manner that may go untold otherwise.

Leah enjoyed participating in 4-H and raising horses in her youth; she cherishes the memories of barrel racing at the Champaign County Fair. At age 14, Leah began playing guitar and shortly after she wrote her first song. Once her friends and family learned of her musical talents they began encouraging her to play more often which spiraled into open mics, acoustic shows and collaborations with other artists.

For Alli, her musical journey began with a guitar that was given to her by her father. She taught herself to play and began singing for her roommates in college. “One day I was playing with my back to the door and my roommate gathered many people from our floor. When I finished the song everyone began clapping and it was at that moment that I realized I had an audience. I just sort of ran with it from there!” Alli says.

Leah’s musical influences span many genres, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 was one of the first writers that she remembers truly moving her with his lyrics. Her grandfather, who was also a talented musician introduced her to the sound of authentic country music and Leah is greatly appreciative for that influence. Since moving to Nashville she has been introduced to the songs of many talented writers such as Jason Isbell, Caitlyn Smith, Gregory Allan Isakov and Ashley McBride. For Alli, her insperations stem from a lot of the music that she listened to growing up such as The Eagles, Journey, Pat Benatar and Fleetwood Mac. Contemporary artist Maren Morris is also a major influence for Alli, she loves Morris’s ability to pour her heart and soul into the music.

Leah moved to Nashville in November of 2016 after graduating with her bachelors degree from The Ohio State University in a field unrelated to music. She said, “There wasn’t a whole lot of planning before my move, it was mostly a gut feeling and a love for music that drove my decision. I was ready to put in the work!” Other than the music scene in Nashville, Leah enjoys the vast wilderness that surrounds the city; there is tons of hiking and the many lakes and rivers satisfy her urge to be on the water. Nashville is also packed full of history, she enjoys getting out to the museums and plantations to learn about the past. Moving to a new city comes with the heartache of missing home. The distance can be difficult, not getting to see friends and family as often as she wants is a hard reality of living in Nashville. When Leah returns home she spends as much time as she can with her loved ones, but no trip back is complete without a Schuler’s Donut and a trip to Crabill’s for some hamburgers!

Alli regularly plays in the area, you can often catch her at the following locations: MIXX165 (Mechanicsburg), Buckeye Lodge (Springfield), Old Dog Alehouse (Delaware), Benny’s Pizza, Dalton Union Winery, Leons Garage (Marysville) and Mr. Boro’s Tavern (Springboro).

A Christmas Blessing

As many of us know the holiday season can be stressful, with the pressures of gift giving and entertaining, Christmas can be a very expensive time of year. Lately there have been articles circulating Facebook about groups of friends going out to eat for holiday meals and gifting unsuspecting severs with large tips. Last night MIXX165 was graced with an amazing group of friends who presented one of our team members with a true Christmas miracle.

IMG_1752.jpg

This incredible group stopped in the weekend before Christmas to make this Holiday season one to remember for a very deserving member of our team. It was wonderful to witness this unbelievable act of love in person! After paying the tab, two of the lovely women in the group discretely slipped a very generous cash gift into Brittany’s hands thanking her for her amazing service, praising her hard work and wishing her a Merry Christmas. Tears of joy began to roll down the cheeks of several team members who were there to witness the interaction firsthand.

It is selfless acts like this that show us the true meaning of Christmas. We are very blessed to be a part of such a caring community; we are so thankful for the support of Mechanicsburg and the surrounding communities who have made us feel welcome and continue to amaze us everyday! Merry Christmas from all of your friends at MIXX165!!!

MIXX 165: Remembering Our Roots

MIXX 165: REMEMBERING OUR ROOTS!

Before the Winner family purchased the MIXX165 building, the former bar was called The Village Inn Tavern and to the town of Mechanicsburg, the VI. The Village Inn had a nostalgic charm to it with a beautiful wood bar and pay-to-play pool table, you could tell that some good times were had here!

When the Winner family took possession of the building everything was in similar order to how it was when the Village Inn was operating. The stools were lined up down the bar, the chairs were pushed under the tables and the cue sticks were lined up on the wall mounted stand.

After some discussion, demolition began. The crew started off by boxing up the old glassware and cleaning out beverage coolers. Once all the smaller items were removed the real fun began. Next the larger, more difficult items had to be removed; The back bar was dismantled, wooden booths torn out and the floor tiles were torn up.

THERE WERE VERY MANY CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE DESIGN, after the building was torn back to bare bones, design elements were finalized. After paint colors were selected and the building layout was done, the crew very quickly went to work implementing renovation plans. Look at that picture of Brad burning each and every board for the inner accent wall.

It took the Winner family and crew more than a year to get the facility gutted and rehabilitated. The bathrooms, kitchen, bar and lobby all received the proper renovations and were brought up to code to guarantee safety for all guests. Being happy with the appearance and layout of the building, the Winner family set their sights on an opening date. After many decisions and hours of hard work MIXX165 opened its doors May 9th, 2018.
